This is just one of six churches in Amsterdam and is located across from Central Station. Commonly referred to as a “new” church, St. Nicolaas is an amazing example of the neo-Baroque style church. This church is remarkable inside and out with the oldest part being a tower from the 12th century.
The interior of St. Nicolaas is the most photographed in Amsterdam where you can see both amateurs and professionals capturing the beauty of the charm from the old world. If you would like to have your vacation stay next door to this wonderful church, right next door is the France Hotel. This is a three star hotel situated on a canal in the heart of this historical area.
All Amsterdam hotels will show a star rating which makes it easier for visitors to get an idea of their prices for rooms. The major feature in this church is the organ which was damages in the 1834 fire and was then restored in 1835 and then once again it was restored in 1975 by K.B. Blank. The two bells are still functioning today and mass is held every Sunday by the Catholic church.
