In a city where even the most practical of installations, like bathrooms for example, were made with the utmost care, it’s no wonder that the National Opera is, first of all, a beautiful building. Its construction, designed by architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll, began in 1861 and was completed in 1869.
